You know when you have a million dollar idea, then come to find out it already exists!? It’s a relief in a way, that now I don’t have to go to all the trouble of creating that website and app, but well…can’t we all use a million dollars?

As I start to prepare a style file for my brides, I often do a lot of searching for the perfect bridesmaid’s dress. I have a vision…a length, a color, a style! Then I must go to every bridesmaid designer site to see if it exists. I may find the style I like, or not the color, and vice versa. It is an exhaustive process, and I’m sure I am not the first one to have this complaint.

Enter Weddington Way, a website that takes the tireless bridesmaid search away by bringing styles, colors and price points together. Once you are on the site, you can search for dresses by color, style, length, fabric,season and price point. You can even invite your bridesmaids to interact and order the gowns right from the site.

Weddington Way even lets you order a swatch first to ensure that you are working with JUST the perfect shade of blush you had in mind.Once you have found the gown, you can also find the perfect flower girl and groomsmen accessories to tie in. I’m thrilled about this search engine and hope you find your way to Weddington Way soon! 

TOAST is currently accepting internship applications for Spring/Summer 2013. Ideally candidates should be available to assist beginning early April-August to assist onsite and in the office during the busy wedding season.

The ideal candidate will be a current student or recent graduate studying hospitality, recreation or event management. Candidates should be serious about a career in event planning and willing to work long hours on site at events. Candidates must also be outgoing, problem solvers and always willing to go the extra mile for clients.

The internship experience will entail 10-20 hours a week working remotely or in office assisting with final details for each weekend’s events. Duties may include confirmation calls with vendors, wedding related errands for clients, preparing final documents, creating blog content and conducting follow up calls. The candidate must be willing to work Saturdays during the internship to assist on site at weddings.

The internship is unpaid, candidates must have reliable transportation, a laptop with wireless access and a cell phone.  The intern will work in the office 2 days a week as well as on-site at some weddings through out the summer.

Interested candidates should forward an email titled Internship to info@toast-events.com and include an updated resume, three references, available start date and an essay. The Essay should explain why you are the ideal candidate and why you are pursuing a career in events or weddings.  Applications will be accepted through February 1 with interviews taking place late February. It was an extraordinary three days, that kicked off Sunday  with a Southern welcome party, right up my alley under a clear tent strung with festival lights! It’s like summer camp, trying to find all the friends you met last year and catch-up.

Monday we were inspired by presentation from the industry’s leaders and tastemakers and enjoyed a lunch break in the sunshine overlooking the ocean. For the dine-around I had the pleasure of eating with Keija Minor, the new editor-in-chief of Brides magazine. What a delight!

We reconvened as a group for the Winter Wonderland dessert party! Real snow, ice penguins and the Rockettes dazzled us while we feasted on an array of decadent desserts. Was this real life??

Tuesday, we were back in the classroom hearing from the top professionals before indulging in the most creative and delicious “boxed” lunch I have ever seen. The conference wraps up with the Gala dinner and after-party. To say this is the most bitter-sweet culmination of the week is an understatement. To see a room full of people who plan events, experience a night like this that they didn’t have to plan is surreal.

The Breakers team did it again, a choir welcomed us into the Circle ballroom singing “loved” themed songs as we sipped on vueve and dined on stone crab from our own ice block carving…and that was just the appetizer!  After an indulgent dinner, we moved to the after party with a twenty plus piece band who commanded us to the dance floor! We all danced the night away, with full hearts and minds, feeling inspired, engaged and ready to take on 2013!

As fabulous as the swag, speakers and soriees are, what I love most about Engage are the people I get to meet and have thought provoking, candid business conversations with. Learning from other planners their best practices and challenges, has been monumental in cultivating my business. I love that this conference breaks down the walls and allows competitors to converse and help each other.

Thank you Rebecca and Kathryn for taking it to a new level, with each conference and allowing us to come together for something like this! I’m already counting down the days until the next Engage!
